Slatted Side Table

A slatted side table whose body is a single doubly-curved surface sliced into a fan of vertical timber slats. The slats rise and fall along a gentle saddle profile, so the silhouette shifts as you move around the piece. Two round stretcher rods thread straight through every slat and both end side boards, locking the fan together and carrying lateral load, while a flat slab caps the top. CNC-milled from timber with interlocking joints -- the rods pass through matching holes in all of the boards rather than relying on fasteners. Every board hole is bored 0.5 mm larger in radius than the rods for a clearance fit, and a short spacer ring is slipped onto each rod in every gap between adjacent boards, bracing the boards apart and locking their spacing.
